Lettie was glad that the cafeteria was open, even during class hours. She was ditching and if her parents were to ever find out she'd probably get a lecture about the right streets to be a hobo on. The weapon rolled her eyes to herself and walked up with a tray to the food selection the cafeteria had. Because it was after lunch, there wasn't much to eat.
After selecting her food and getting eating utensils and napkins, Lettie made her way to one of the many tables of the cafeteria. She knew the cooks wouldn't say anything to her, and she was thankful for that. Honestly, though, Lettie didn't feel like going to P.E. She hated phys ed because she was a weapon and even if she let herself go, a potential meister would still be able to weild her.
Shaking her head, Lettie looked down at her meal and picked up the spoon she grabbed, digging in. It took her about thirty minutes to eat it all. when she finished, Lettie let out a content groan, stretching her arms above her head. She sighed when she heard her back crack and she smiled widely, opening her eyes. She glanced around the cafeteria, musing about how cold it felt when it was empty. Her eyes moved past one of the doors near her and she tensed. Were those... footsteps? Yes, they were. She yelped loudly and dove under the table, grumbling when her knee dragged across the tile, leaving a burning senation on her skin.
"Dang," she muttered, curling in on herself. She wanted to be as hidden as possible, if the footsteps she heard belonged to a teacher and were coming this way. She was probably out of luck, though, because her yelp had been pretty dang loud.

Brynn walked into the Caff, not really paying attention. he was clearly thinking about something, with his right hand playing with the necklace hanging just below his collar bones. he was fingering the round carved bead in the center. he walked over to the food, and spooned some rice and chicken onto a plate, and grabbed a crust of bread.
i wonder what i should do for the afternoon... i don't have a class... maybe i should take more classes. or i can go down to the dojo... but I'm always at the dojo. the Library maybe? or i could go walk the garden... jeez. i suppose i could go in to the shop and work on some of my own stuff... i really gotta finish some of it...
Brynn hardly payed any attention as he sat down, quietly eating a mouthful of food, and thinking more. i could probably work on that desk for that couple from up town.... getting it out early might get me a bonus... i could use that cash Brynn thought as he chewed, staring off at the wall nearby.

Lettie huddled in on herself, listening to the footsteps as they walked around the cafeteria. The steps sounded heavy, but she didn't recognize them as a teacher. That didn't mean the student wouldn't tattle on her. Cautiously, Lettie crawled out from under the table, looking around her. She really hoped the person wasn't a teacher or a snitch.
Snitches get stitches, she sang in her head. She pulled herself out of her thoughts and focused on finding the person. Lettie let out a squeak when she saw a redhead near by. The person looked like a boy. He was big. Well, he was bigger than she was. Lettie cleared her throat and looked around the cafeteria before speaking kind of loudly.
"Are you a teacher?" She asked. "Or... do you know if there are any teachers near by?" The freshman fiddled with one of her bracelets, looking earnestly at the boy. She really, really hoped she didn't just reveal herself to a teacher or a TA. Ugh, that would seriously suck. Lettie tipped her head to the side and stared firmly at at the redheaded boy.

Brynn jumped and almost tossed his plate of food. where in the heck did she come from? i usually notice that sort of stuff... he looked over at the girl standing nearby. was she under a table?! "uh, hello. no, I'm not a teacher, I'm a Junior. name's Brynn. just what were you doing under a table?" he had a fork full of food still hovering in front of his face, as if he didn't want to move for fear of scaring her away. "and no, i don't know if they are nearby. though I'd expect most of them had a class to teach." he tried to smile but was still very confused where this petite girl had come from...

The hammer blushed and tugged sharply on her bracelets, wincing slightly as her skin got caught between two bracelets. She probably shouldn't be pinching her bracelets together like that. Lettie looked down briefly at her bracelets and looked back up to the redhead when he answered her.
"Well hello, not a teacher Brynn," Lettie greeted brightly. She glanced around the cafeteria to do a quick survey in case a teacher popped in. She would probably panic if she saw one and that would end up with her under a table. Lettie snapped her head back around and started laughing at Brynn's words. She covered her mouth and laughed into her hand. Once she calmed down, she said, "Funnily enough, I was hiding from you because I thought you were a teacher."
Lettie hoped that one of the teachers with off periods didn't come into the cafeteria. The brunette turned purple sighed and rubbed the back of her neck before saying, "My name is Lettie. I'm a freshman." She blushed and beamed at Brynn. "And obviously I'm supposed to be in class."

Brynn snorted. here she was jumping all over the place. and she's just skipping class? He couldn't help but smile a bit. he'd been a freshmen once too. "well, nice to meet you Lettie. why don't you sit at the table, instead of under it?"
he motioned with the fork full of food to the seat opposite him. then proceeded to stick it in his mouth. he sat back, chewing for a second. shes absolutely tiny. and i don't think she's stopped looking around the room for teachers. was i like this 2 years ago? YES. well. maybe not quite so small...
he swallowed, and smiled at her. "and where SHOULD you be then?" he says in a low tone, almost accusingly, his smile turning into a wicked little grin, his lip cocked up to one side.

Lettie stuck her tongue out at Brynn when she heard him snort before glancing around the room again. Maybe the library would have been a better place for her to hide. The brunette tugged on one of her bracelets and carefully got up. She walked the few steps from her table to Brynn's, her platform shoes clicking on the floor with each step she took. She slid into the seat carefully across from Brynn and tipped her head to the side as he was eating.
She glanced around the room again and jumped when Brynn asked her where she was supposed to be. She flushed slightly and stared at the eating boy for a moment before speaking, "Snitches get stitches." Her tone was quiet and firm. She let her words hang for a moment before smiling brightly. "I'm supposed to be in phys ed. But personally, I see no point to it." Lettie shrugged. "I'm a weapon, so why in the world would I need to worry about weight or physical health? If I ever get a meister, they will wield me and I will not have any part in fighting except being swung around." Lettie cast a careful glance around the room again and glanced back at Brynn. "Maybe I'm wrong and I should be running laps around the track in a jacket and some shorts. Or maybe I'm right."
Lettie gave another shrug and tugged absently on one of her bracelets. Part of her wanted phys ed to end while part of her was happy to kill time. But she wanted it to end so she wouldn't get caught ditching. Oh, the dilemmas of a freshman high schooler.

Brynn laughed out loud when Lettie made a face at him, and uttered "snitches get stitches." she's got spunk I'll give her that... I'm a heck of a lot bigger than her, and an older student he sat back and smiled down at her across the table.
"oh I'm not going to snitch on you. id be too scared." he said, trying to sound sincere, but failing miserably. "AH P.E. class. its important you know. a sound body and all that. it helps keep the spirit well. besides, i know P.E. is boring but the different parts of the Dojo are pretty cool Lettie" Brynn noticed her looking around again, obviously still worried.
"You know, company is nice while i eat. but i suggested you sit for a reason. I'm a Junior and a lot of the teachers know me... and know i don't skip class. they might not ask who or what you're doing if we're sitting together." He smiles warmly to show he's being honest. "besides i felt bad, you looked like a deer in the headlights!"

Lettie folded her arms across her chest and she scowled at Brynn. Snitches did get stitches, just not from Lettie. Lettie knew she was tiny and not really a threat unless she was in her weapon form with a meister. However, she did want to act older because of that. She was too small, so she had to act badass to make up for it.
"Yeah," Lettie said with a smirk, "You better be scared." She rolled her eyes, figuring Brynn really wasn't all that scared of her. She was half his size, even sitting down. Her feet barely touched the floor in her platforms while he... Was just a giant. The brunette huffed when Brynn gave her a speech she'd heard many times before from her parents and fellow classmates. The 'I know you don't like it but it's good for you' speech. Why did people treat her like she wasn't eating her vegetables? Lettie rolled her eyes and glanced around the room once more while saying, "Phys ed sucks, you're not going to convince me to like it. I'm shorter than the other students and teacher won't let me go in platforms so it's harder for me to do things."
Absently, Lettie reached up to tug at the necklace she wore. She got it from her grandpa for her last birthday. She glanced at Brynn when he mentioned company while eating was nice. She smiled briefly at that and set back to surveying the room, only stopping when Brynn said he asked her to sit for a reason. He was going to snitch on her. She knew it. What he said, though, was unexpected.
"...Really?" she asked, her face lighting up. "Well, thank you! I don't want to be caught. It will get back to my parents and they'll tell me what streets it's best to live on as a hobo." She rolled her eyes and gasped. "I did not look like a deer in the headlights! I don't do scared!" She stuck her tongue out at him again.

Brynn shrugged at Lettie's response to P.E. class. "hey, if you don't wanna. but it does make you're resonance better. er. so I'm told, i wouldn't exactly know. and i guess being so small wouldnt help either" He rubbed his hand through his hair. he hadn't actually been able to resonate with any meisters. not well at least. He grinned at her when she denied looking scared when he had noticed her. "well, you did jump pretty good, miss hiding under a table!" he laughs. "and well, your parents wont be mad if they don't know!
"so" he says, changing the subject. "you're a weapon? i am too. I'm surprised i haven't seen you around the dojo at all." he then thought about what she had said about class. "eh, i guess I'm really not." by now he had finished his food, but he hadn't gone to get any more. "what kind of classes do you like then?"

Lettie perked up almost instantly when Brynn mentioned soul resonance. "It will make my resonance better?" she asked, her tone excited. "Will it draw meisters toward me?" She bit her lip and leaned forward, looking earnestly at Brynn. She frowned, however, when he said that he didn't know. "Wait.. Do you not have a partner?" She sighed and leaned back, dropping her arms lifelessly on the table. The brunette scoffed and looked away from Brynn. "I was being cautious by hiding under the table," she bit out. "My parents always know. They get a call when I get caught ditching classes."
She tugged at one of her bracelets again and looked to Brynn curiously when he asked if she was a weapon. She nodded mutely, not entirely sure where he was going with that. When he mentioned not seeing her in the dojo, Lettie grinned widely. "Gee I wonder why," she said dryly. "I'm actually usually in the art room." She shrugged absently and looked at her bracelets before looking back up at Brynn, watching him speak. "The classes I like?" Lettie tipped her head to the side, her hair falling slightly over her shoulder. She reached up and brushed it back, speaking as she did. "Well, I really like art class. I take photography, although it's my last class of the day. But it gives me something to look forward to! Then I really like world history and government, but all the hours that could fit in my schedule were full." She sighed and shook her head, beaming at Brynn. "What about you? What classes do you like?"

she certainly is interested in resonance. "uh. well. you still need to resonate with a meister on a basic level, it doesn't make it that kind of better. you're still you. just a stronger soul i guess." he looked down a bit when she asked if he had a partner. "no, i uh. don't. i haven't been able to resonate with any meisters properly..." Brynn sighed. it was something he didn't like to talk about. he was really just quoting the teachers and felt a little silly now.
Brynn couldn't help but smile at the petite girl sitting across from him. she's bubbly. and full of attitude. seems like a nice girl if she would just relax "well. i have to admit i like P.E. Class, not that im in any of the regular P.E. classes right now, im in the Dojo learning fighting stuff. all sorts, i haven't specialized really. i think its fun." he was proud of those classes. "i also like the cultures classes, some of the history stuff." he stood up, and stretched a little. he realized he was quite a lot taller than Lettie, and she was obviously a lot thinner than he was.

Lettie blew out a huff of air dramatically and made a face. "Well that's a bunch of phooey. It doesn't interest me unless I can draw a meister to me. I hate," she whined, drawing out the 'a' sound in hate, "not having a meister. It's no fun!" She pouted and tugged at her necklace for a moment before letting it fall against her chest. Lettie frowned slighly and tilted her head to the side. "I'm sorry you don't have a meister," she whispered. "It really does suck, huh? Not being able to resonate..." She laughed. "I've only been able to resonate with other weapons. That's really the pits."
The brunette shrugged and glanced around on auto before snapping her head back to Brynn. Right. He invited her to sit with him so she wouldn't have to be on edge. She needed to stop. Lettie grinned a bit when Brynn said he liked phys ed. She couldn't understand why. Okay, maybe a little. Learning fighting was good. But she wasn't allowed to take a fun phys ed class until she passed her track physical.
"Fighting is fun," Lettie said enthusiastically. "I wish I could take karate or something." She laughed lightly and shrugged her shoulders, nodding as he continued with what other clases he liked. "Cultures? Those kind of tie in with history, huh?" She smiled brightly. "I'm glad you like at least some history. History is wonderful. I like learning about the pasts of the world. It's... It's art, almost. Sure there's bad stuff like Hiter, but it's still beautiful to see how humans grow, you know?" She grinned brightly, wondering if that had been too shojo-y for Brynn. Lettie had a secret stash of shojo manga under her bed at home, and those kind of influenced her mannerisms. She just hoped that Brynn wouldn't pick up on her shojo tendancies.

Brynn laughed at Lettie's enthusiastic responses. "yeah. not having a meister really isn't much fun. cant practice the more advanced stuff. heck i don't even know what most of my powers are. so i just try and be as strong as i can be without it. hence, lots of P.E. and fighting class" He was being surprisingly honest. he really didn't know what he was capable of. hopefully he got to resonate with a meister soon and they could practice.
"you really must enjoy your history class then. nice way of thinking of it. we do all have a lot of growing to do in our time." Brynn smiled sadly. he'd already done a lot of growing. "so, you know if you pass P.E. you can take those fighting classes you wanted? or i guess you could keep up with the history classes too. they're both nice." he shrugs, leaning down on the table. "i bet you could be really quick if you practiced."

Lettie nodded empathetitcally when Brynn said not having a meister wasn't fun. She'd had two temporary meisters, both weapons, and she missed the feeling of having her soul line up with someone else's. It was a full, comfortable feeling. During the brief time it had happened, Lettie remembered feeling complete. Ever since then, her soul had felt like it was missing something. Lettie nodded, though, as Brynn kept talking, saying how he wanted to be as strong as he could. That made sense.
With a smile, Lettie said, "I wish I had your motivation." She sighed and tugged at one of the bracelets on her wrist. She blushed slightly when Brynn commented on her loving history. He really had no idea. "I just wish I could go back in time and take hi-def pictures, you know?" She laughed. "If only. That would be the best thing for me to do." Lettie rolled her eyes at Brynn. "Yeah, if I pass phys ed this year. But like I said, I hate it. So that's a highly unlikely happening Phys ed sucks." She beamed at the redhead when he said she'd be quick if she practiced. "Well thank you. I'm not sure if I'm going to practice, but knowing I could be quick is good knowledge to have."
Lettie hummed to herself absently and tugged on her bracelets again before abruptly standing up, her platforms clicking firmly against the floor. "I'm gonna get more food. Wanna come with?" She waited patiently for an answer before setting off toward the food display. She grabbed a plate and a bowl and slapped them on a tray. She grabbed some silverware and served herself up before going back to the table she shared with Brynn. "Yummy!" she cheered, digging in.
